First published in 1938, "Recipient unknown" with tragic clairvoyance anticipated the horrors of the Holocaust. It 's the story in epistolary form of two close friends and business partners, Max Eisenstein, American jew, and Max Schuls, German. In 1933 Max returned to Germany, but relations between the two, initially fraternal deteriorate with the onset of Hitler at the helm of the country. The death of Max's sister, actress in Berlin, will trigger the Machiavellian revenge that turns the balance of power between the two protagonists, and prepare a conclusion both unexpected and overwhelming.
